putinpeace @ Berlin Wall

The Berlin Wall was a guarded concrete barrier that physically and ideologically divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989.

Construction of the wall was commenced by the German Democratic Republic on 13 August 1961.

The Wall cut off West Berlin from surrounding East Germany, including East Berlin.

The Eastern Bloc portrayed the Wall as protecting its population from fascist elements conspiring to prevent the “will of the people” from building a socialist state in East Germany.

On November 9, 1989, the Berliners came out armed with a pickaxe to demolish the hated wall once and for all, the collapse of which was universally interpreted as a sign that the division into two blocs of Europe was finally ending.

The MURALED  placed at the entrance to the Memorial of the Berlin Wall wants to remind us that the only way is to #putinpeace every day every form of division and abuse.
